Spray Tan Safe Products

Affordable & Accessible Options

Maintaining that flawless spray tan glow is all about using the right products! We've rounded up some of our top picks for body washes, lotions, and sunscreens that won't ruin or interfere with your spray tan.

Body Washes:

• CeraVe Hydrating Body Wash

• Native Body Wash

• Aveeno Skin Relief Body Wash (Unscented)

Lotions:

• CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion

• Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

• Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion

Sunscreens:

• Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Mineral Sunscreen

• Sun Bum Mineral Sunscreen Lotion

• Aveeno Positively Mineral Sensitive Skin Sunscreen

Note: Avoid Aerosol Sunscreens as they often contain alcohol.

This list features some of my favorite picks, but there are many other great products out there! Always check ingredient lists for yourself to ensure they are compatible with your spray tan.

INGREDIENTS TO AVOID

• Mineral Oil: Can create a barrier and break down your tan.

•  Sulfates (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate): Harsh cleansers that strip the skin.

• Petrolatum: Can create a barrier and break down your tan.

• Ethanol/Denatured Alcohol: Often found in spray sunscreens, it can dry out skin and strip your tan.

• Synthetic Fragrances: Can be drying, irritating and cause uneven fading.

• Urea: Can accelerate skin cell turnover, leading to faster tan fading.

• Benzyl Peroxide: Causes fading/stripping of tan leading to patchiness/unevenness

• Exfoliants, AHAs, BHAs, Retinols: Promotes skin cell turnover causing your tan to fade quickly and unevenly.

• Acids: ie. Salicylic Acid. Exfoliates skin, leading to faster and uneven fading. (Hyaluronic Acid is okay!)
