Follow these pre-care steps to achieve the best results from your spray tan

Sunburn Advisory

  • Please avoid booking a spray tan if you have had a sunburn within the past 6 weeks. Sunburned skin can peel and result in an uneven, patchy tan.

Exfoliate Thoroughly

  • Exfoliate your entire body with an exfoliating mitt 24 to 48 hours before your appointment.

  • Focus on dry areas like elbows, knees, ankles and feet for even absorption.

Skip the Retinol

  • Avoid using retinol, AHA, BHA, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, or any products that promote cell turnover 7+ days before your appointment. These can dry out the skin, causing the tan to apply unevenly and result in patchiness.

Shave or Wax in Advance

  • Shave at least 24 hours before your appointment, and wax at least 48 hours before to prevent strawberry legs (tiny dark spots in hair follicles) and unevenness.

Avoid Moisturizers & Oils on Day of Spray

  • Avoid applying lotions, oils or body butters on the day of your appointment as they can created a barrier and impact tan development.

Start with Clean, Product-Free Skin

  • Shower at least 12 hours before your appointment with a mild, non-moisturizing soap to ensure your skin is free of any residue, sweat, or leftover products. Don't shower right before your appointment.

No Deodorant or Perfume

  • Avoid using deodorants, perfumes, or scented products on the day of your tan as they can interfere with the solution's development and may cause green or patchy areas.

Remove All Makeup

  • Arrive with a clean face, free of foundation, powder, or mascara.

What to Wear During the Spray

  • You can wear a black bikini/underwear, one of our complimentary disposable thongs, or go nude. Choose whatever you're comfortable with.

Wear Loose, Dark Clothing

  • Opt for loose-fitting, dark clothing and undergarments to prevent smudging or transferring the spray tan. Flip flops, UGG's, or Crocs are all great options for footwear. Skip the tight shoes and socks.

Protect Your Car Seats

  • Bring a towel to cover your car seat after the tan to avoid transfer.

Tips to protect your tan during development and extend its longevity

Allow Your Tan to Dry Fully

  • Avoid bending, crossing your arms, or touching your skin until dry.

  • Opt for dark, loose-fitting clothing while the tan is developing to avoid smudging.

DO NOT GET WET!

  • Keep dry while your tan develops. Avoid showering, sweating, excercising, and any skin-to-skin contact,  including washing your hands. If you get wet, contact your spray technician right away for guidance to avoid streaking.

Follow Your Rinse Time

  • Set your phone on timer for when to rise. Your spray tan technician will provide specific instructions based on the formula used during your appointment.

  • For your first shower, rinse with lukewarm water - avoid using soap, shampoo or conditioner. Be sure to get ALL of the spray tan off  to avoid streaks. The water should run clear. After rinsing, gently  pat your skin dry with a clean towel - do not rub!

  • It's best to wait  24 hours after your spray tan to apply lotion. This allows the tan to fully develop and set, ensuring a more even and longer-lasting result.

  • If you are concerned about dry skin due to the DHA, we offer a wonderful add-on from Earth and Fig made with organic, spray-tan safe oils. Also available in our retail section.

Protect Your Bed Sheets

  • If sleeping with the tan, protect your bed sheets and pillow by wearing a long-sleeved hoodie and pants to bed. Alternatively, you can use dark towels or sheets to safeguard against any potential staining.

Maintenance

Tips to protect your tan and extend its longevity

Moisturize

  • Keep your skin hydrated by using lotion twice a day. Scroll down for a list of spray tan-safe products and ingredients to avoid.
  •  Avoid bar soaps (especially Dove, oil-based lotions, harsh body washes, and heavy fragrance or essential oils.

Avoid Exfoliation Products

  • Steer clear or scrubs, loofahs, retinols, and exfoliating acids.

  • Shaving can fade the tan quicker so try to limit if possible.

Skip the Soaking

  • Stay away from hot tubs, saunas, and long baths. Avoid chlorine pools whenever possible, as they can quickly break down your tan. If you must soak use a spray tan extender to help maintain your colour.

Extend Your Tan

  • Incorporate a gradual tanning lotion to extend the life of your spray tan.

  • The face tends to fade quicker due to washing and beauty products. If this is a concern, consider using a gradual tanning product specifically for the face.

  • Feel free to ask about the retail products that we have available for sale.
