This list features some of my favorite picks, but there are many other great products out there! Always check ingredient lists for yourself to ensure they are compatible with your spray tan.
• Mineral Oil: Can create a barrier and break down your tan.
• Petrolatum: Can create a barrier and break down your tan.
• Ethanol/Denatured Alcohol: Often found in spray sunscreens, it can dry out skin and strip your tan.
• Synthetic Fragrances: Can be drying, irritating and cause uneven fading.
• Urea: Can accelerate skin cell turnover, leading to faster tan fading.
• Sulfates (SLS): Harsh cleansers that strip the skin.
• Benzyl Peroxide: Causes fading/stripping of tan leading to patchiness/unevenness
• Exfoliants, AHAs, BHAs, Retinols: Promotes skin cell turnover causing your tan to fade quickly and unevenly.
• Acids: ie. Salicylic Acid. Exfoliates skin, leading to faster and uneven fading. (Hyaluronic Acid is okay!)
